Google lizenziert Nachrichten
„Google will start paying publishers to license content – In a major departure from its long-standing practice of not paying publishers directly to distribute their work, Google executives tell Axios that the search giant is creating a licensing program to pay publishers ‚for high-quality content‚ as a part of a new news product launching later this year. … Regulators around the world have been threatening Google with broad-based policies that would force it to pay publishers on policymakers‘ terms. Google aims to get ahead of that threat by introducing its own payout terms, while also strengthening its relationship with the embattled publishing community. … Google will pay select publishers to distribute their work… Google will also offer to pay for free access for users to read paywalled articles… Google has already signed partnership agreements with local and national publications in Germany, Australia and Brazil… Examples of the publishers that have signed on include Der Spiegel, FAZ, Die Zeit, Tagesspiegel and Rheinische Post in Germany… For now, all Google is saying about the new product is that it is an ‚enhanced‘ storytelling experience that will exist in Google News and Google Discover…“

Verizon vs Facebook: Werbeentzug
„Verizon is pulling advertising from Facebook and Instagram – Verizon said on Thursday it is pulling advertising on Facebook and Instagram. – On Thursday, the Anti-Defamation League released an open letter that mentioned, in part, that it had found an advertisement for Verizon ‚appearing next to a video from the conspiracy group QAnon drawing on hateful and antisemitic rhetoric.‘ – Facebook’s stock was down nearly 2% Thursday evening.“

Auch YouTube testet TikTok-Klon
„YouTube’s latest experiment is a TikTok rival focused on 15-second videos – YouTube is taking direct aim at TikTok. The company announced on Wednesday it’s beginning to test a new feature on mobile that will allow users to record 15-second long multi-segment videos. That’s the same length as the default on TikTok as well as Instagram’s new TikTok clone, Reels. … Similar to TikTok, the user can then tap and hold the record button to record their clip. They can then tap again or release the button to stop recording. This process is repeated until they’ve created 15 seconds worth of video footage. YouTube will combine the clips and upload it as one single video when the recording completes. In other words, just like TikTok.“

Apple bringt Neumorphismus
„Apple, Big Sur, and the rise of Neumorphism – Like it or not, the user interfaces of the near future are going to be much lusher, and often cringe-inducing. – If you watched Apple’s annual WWDC event this week, or have been even casually observing some of the announcements the company made, you may have noticed something new – something a bit jarring. … When you boil it down, Neumorphism is a focus on how light moves in three-dimensional space. … What sets neumorphism apart from its progenitor is that the focus is on the light itself and how it interacts with a variety of objects in a purely digital space. The light simulations in neumorphism are more complex, and are focused on how light from one object could affect another, or the function of the object itself.“

„Neumorphism in user interfaces – How UI trends reach for inspiration into the real world and what problems do we have to solve to make those trends work. – Last week we explored some potential new trends in UI design, with one particular trend gaining a lot of attention on both Dribbble and Instagram lately. This ‚New skeuomorphism‚ has been called by Jason Kelley Neuomorphism in the comments. I decided to skip the ‚o‘ and the name Neumorphism came alive.“
